| Carrier Route | The addresses which a carrier delivers mail. A Carrier Route includes city routes, rural routes, highway contract routes, Post Office™ box sections and general delivery units. | ||

| Delivery Point Code | The code by which a mail piece can be sorted by its address. This code is formatted from the ZIP + 4®. | ||
| Check Digit | The one-digit number that is part of each bar code. It is required for all customer-generated special services forms to delete errors resulting from manual data entry or errors from transmitted data. | ||
| LAC™ Indicator | The LAC Address Conversion Service indicator describes records that have been converted by LAC Service from rural route to city-style addresses so that emergency vehicles (e.g., ambulances, police cars, etc.) can more easily find these locations | ||
| eLOT™ sequence number | eLOT Travel Line Product was developed to give mailers the ability to sort their mailings in approximate carrier-casing sequence. To aid in mail sortation, eLOT contains an eLOT sequence number, this number indicates the first occurrence of delivery made to the add-on range within the carrier route. | ||
| eLOT Ascending/Descending Indicator | The ascending/descending code indicates the approximate delivery order within the sequence number. | ||
| Record Type Code | The code facilitates identifying or confirming certain software matches when delivery point assignment are erroneous. This field contains a single alpha character that indicates the record type. | ||
| PMB (Private Mail Box) Designator | This designates that an address is a private mail box. | ||
| PMB Number | This is the number of a private mail box. | ||
| Default Flag | This will indicate if an address is a default address. A default address is an address that requires additional information to match to a specific address to determine the correct ZIP+4 Code. | ||
| EWS (Early Warning System) Flag | This indicates that an address is not in the US Postal Service’s ZIP+4 records. These addresses are, however, valid addresses as formatted and should not be changed in any way since the Postal Service will be assigning ZIP + 4 codes to these addresses. | ||
| DPV Confirmation Indicator | This indicates whether an address is a valid delivery point. |
